Simply a dream - in every season!

Flattnitz is a climatic health resort at over 1,400 m, which is located on a plateau of the Gurktal Alps and forms the transition between the Carinthian Gurktal and the Murtal in Styria. The name "Flattnitz" derives from the creek of the same name that flows through the village in the direction of the river Mur. Flattnitz was first mentioned in a document in the 9th century AD, but the area was settled long before that due to its location and climatic conditions. The silver, iron and lead deposits were of great economic importance, at the time of the Romans the alpine crossing was an important toll station and houses one of the oldest official buildings in Austria.
